Here’s your reminder that mentally ill people are capable of anything. We can be good-natured, loving, and successful, but we can also be criminal and abusive. Many mental ilnesses cause an increase risk in “bad” or deviant behavior. It is not just those “scary” disorders, but common disorders like depression and anxiety can cause violent behavior if left untreated. The point is, that we are capable of doing bad things, and some of us are even more prone to it, and some of us end up doing those things, but not all of us do. If you demonize all mentally ill people based on the ones who do bad things, you’re ableist. And if you think of mentally ill people as pure good beings, you’re ableist too.

Mentally ill people are people, and like everyone else we are capable of being any way.
